We provide our services over approximately 1200 miles of fiber optic cable within and between seventeen exchange areas and that number is growing every day.
Franklin was the first telephone company in Mississippi to independent telephone company in Mississippi to interconnect with BellSouth using fiber optic facilities and the first to have an exchange (Artesia-Crawford) with all buried plant. Additionally, Franklin Telephone was also the first independent telephone company in Mississippi to convert all our central office switches to digital. In 2004, Franklin Telephone Company began replacing all our old switching equipment with more advanced “softswitch” technology. This practice also allows us to offer the latest phone, Internet and digital cable TV services to rural areas of Mississippi that might otherwise not be served.
To ensure that you have all the services you need when you need them, Franklin has installed emergency generating equipment at our central office and field remote locations so that you have continued service when commercial electric service is interrupted. Additionally, most (over 99%) of Franklin Telephone’s cables to the subscriber locations have been placed underground to reduce the threat of loss of service during ice and windstorms.
Franklin Telephone has five convenient business office locations in Bude, Ackerman, Louise, Meadville and New Augusta open Monday through Friday from 8 to 5. We also offer 24-hour technical assistance via telephone and internet chat 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
